The massif is formed mainly by Paleogene limestone and, on its southern edge, by a coarse upper stratum of sandstone or sandstone from the Miocene and which is mostly conglomerate in nature.
Due to its steep geography, it is an ideal mountain range for canyoning in its numerous gorges. Rock climbing, speleology and trekking are also practiced.[1].
Famous are some geological formations known as “mallo”, which are rocks raised like vertical walls of abrupt shape. They are present in several points of the Sierra de Guara, as in the Salto del Roldán.
On the summits of the mountain range, the characteristic vegetation is made up of herbaceous species, where the cliffs allow them to settle, with flowers of singular beauty such as veronicas or aquilegias.
