Our tour through all the gates of El Retiro begins with the Puerta de la Independencia, located opposite the Puerta de Alcalá and considered the main entrance to the Park. This entrance was built in 1885 by José Urioste y Velada from the gate made by Juan de Villanueva for the gardens of the Casino de la Reina.
