Puente de vallecas population
This map the Community of Madrid dates it in 1860 but it is erroneous because it shows the tracks of the plaster train that did not begin to operate until 1888 and a street with the name of Alfonso XIII who was born in 1886. The old Hospital Street was still called that way in 1885. The map shows the old names of the streets (Pajeros, del Peine, …) and the “current” ones (those of the date on the map). It can be seen at any scale using the Visor Planea de la Comunidad de Madrid with the Mapa histórico de población Madrid-Vallecas, or see it enlarged here.
In the ABC article of 10-09-1961 there is a list of natural sons and daughters of Vallecas. Here is another list extracted from the parish archive. Article of 1962 of the parish priest about the hospital.
The City Hall was on the corner of Real de Madrid street, today Sierra Gador, and Villaverde street, today Sierra Vieja street. In the building, in addition to the municipal offices, were the first aid house and the fire department. This 1917 photo shows a regiment passing in front of the town hall on its way to maneuvers.
